The Majority Leader and Member of Parliament for Suame, Hon Osei Kyei- Mensah-Bonsu, has called on supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), to forge ahead in unity to win the 2020 general election.
According to him, members of the party should consider the party first in their decisions before any other parochial interest.
Hon Kyei- Mensah-Bonsu, who is the Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, made these remarks during his acclamation at the various electoral areas in the constituency as the Parliamentary Candidate for Suame for 2020 Parliamentary election.
He described members of the party who claim to love the party but hate their Members of Parliament (MPs) as liars.
According to him, the party has put in place measures to suspend members of the party who are determined to cause problems for the party.
He described it as unfortunate the situation where persons, who have never contributed their quota to the running of the party at the constituency level, are voted for as MPs.
Hon Kyei- Mensah-Bonsu, noted that his successor, when he ends, his mandate shall be a known party member who has unflinchingly supported the party adding any person who is an alien in the constituency will be disallowed to contest for the seat.
On the new voter registration, the Majority Leader, said the Electoral Commission (EC) will commence the exercise on 30th of this month.
According to him, the decision by the National Democratic Congress(NDC) to boycott the registration is a lie adding the stand taken by the Flagbearer, Mr John Dramani Mahama, to reject a flawed election, serves as an indication that the NDC will contest the election therefore it will participate in the registration exercise.
He asked the members of the party to double their efforts towatds mobilising people to register when the EC commences the exercise.
The Majority Leader asked Ghanaians to give the NPP government another four year term in order to witness the fruits of the government
